Older Men Unlimited (commonly referred to as OMU) began as a community development initiative by Hervey Bay City Council to combat social isolation of retired senior men deemed to be at risk to depression, demential and suicide.
It evolved into an independent voluntary body that provides friendly support for older men of every circumstance as well as those experiencing loneliness or unhappiness.
Opportunity is offered for all older men to enjoy each other’s company in different ways- namely: monthly morning teas with varying programs of guest speakers and other forms of entertainment. Make sure you download the latest Newsletter. Special groups are formed to cater for a range of interests such as fishing, discussion, etc. Transport can be arranged to get you to the functions, and cheer-up visits to those who may be house bound.
The main focus of OMU is friendship, and like any wise investment what you put in is returned in kind with a bonus dividend.
OMU meets 10am every 4th Monday in the month at:
OMU meeting place is now: Hervey Bay Community Centre, Crn Charles and Alice Streets Pialba 4655
